Administration building, Eichstätt
With the construction of a new administration building, the Martin Meier company has bundled its various branches of business. One particular challenge of this project was the location of the new building. Standing completely free-standing on a hill, it is exposed to a wide variety of weather conditions without any protection.
In order to develop tailor-made solutions for these site-specific requirements, the team of planners and project consultants were involved in the planning at an early stage. Together, they decided on a mixed façade consisting of around two thirds brick slips and the akurit HYDROCON render system on a thermal insulation composite system. The reason: brick slips have a high mechanical resistance to environmental influences. The brick slips were grouted with akurit FM-R SECON brick slip grout mortar. Thanks to its new binder concept, it not only effectively prevents lime efflorescence, but also reduces the building's CO2 footprint by using less cement during production. The impact resistance of the ETIC system was significantly increased by using an 8 mm thick reinforcement layer of akurit SK light filler and adhesive mortar in the area of the render system. The finishing render and the façade paint were applied in HYDROCON quality. Thanks to the unique physical principle of action with HYDROCONTROL effect, it was possible to dispense with biocides on the façade. The façade surface temporarily absorbs the dew moisture required for plant growth and then continuously releases it again through evaporation thanks to its high diffusion capacity.
