Vézelay Abbey, France
Pilgrimage site regains its former splendour after being refurbished with trass materials.
Vézelay is a little pilgrimage site whose abbey church is one of the most popular in France. However, this impressive structure was in many places no longer in a particularly good condition. During the first refurbishment phase, important measures were taken to upgrade the appearance of the 850-year-old abbey, to make it commensurate with its status once again. Building materials containing tubag trass helped to treat the historical fabric in accordance with heritage conservation requirements.
