St. Pauli Elbe Tunnel, Hamburg
Kiel-based tiling contractor Rabe laid some 360,000 new tiles according to the old drawings in the tunnel that stretches 426.5 m southwards from the St. Pauli boat jetties to the island of Steinwerder in the River Elbe. Throughout the work, the contractor relied on the high-end building materials from Sievert and its new strasser brand for tile-layers.
“For us it was clear that we could only manage such a project by working together with a top-class partner, and Sievert was that right from the start. Following the market launch of strasser in 2018, it was obvious that we could easily continue our successful collaboration, expand it in fact,” says Managing Director Heiner Hedicke. Therefore, FKC Flexkleber Classic tile adhesive and AS-S rapid-curing levelling compound from strasser were used for the final works at both ends of the tunnel. And for the joints, strasser again employed a formula specially developed for the Elbe Tunnel which has an especially high sulphate resistance.
